Construction The front is a high quality, ultra-thin durable mouse mat which can be detached from the backing card. (The same as the UltraThin mats above.)
The backing card is made of stiff card with a narrow flange attached to the mat by a peelable tape.

Designs A large number of superb photographs is available for use on the MouseCard at a small cost. Images include landscapes, seascapes and animals, and quite a few are suitable for use on Christmas cards.

Sizes 200mm x 235mm is standard. Other sizes can be made but may make less efficient use of material and may incur tooling costs. The MouseCard and envelope weigh less than 60g.

Print The mat is usually offset printed four colour process. The print is an undersurface print. The backing card can be printed in one or more colours or four colour process. The back of the card is usually printed with a simple diagram showing that the back of the card is detachable. Both the mat and the backing card can be custom printed and individually personalised.

Packaging The MouseCard can be supplied in plain or printed white envelopes.

Conditions The MouseCard is not available for resale in the retail market. The reference to patent protection must be printed on every MouseCard.

HardTop Mats

Key Features With an everlasting undersurface print, HardTop mats offer the possibility of stunning graphics in spot colour or four colour process. The most popular choice for promotional mats in the UK.

Composition Tough 0.4mm mark resist surface chosen for its good mouse performance and ability to provide strong, bright colours. Bonded to a foam base and die-cut. These mats are much more durable than those made by lamination of printed paper.

Foam base Black 3mm EPDM foam is standard. The extra thickness offered by chunky 5mm foam is also popular. New production techniques now mean that 1.5mm and 2mm EPDM foam can be used to make much slimmer mats. EPDM foam is available in various colours.

Black natural rubber foam in 1.6mm, 3mm and 5mm offers a heavier alternative with the very best lay-flat and non-slip qualities.

Print Screen print or offset litho four colour process. The print is placed directly on to the undersurface of the mark resist material.

Packaging Usually bulk packed. Can be individually packed either into white envelopes which can be personalised or clear polypropylene self seal bags.

Product Similar in appearance to HardTop mats but made by printing onto paper which is bonded to a clear, protective embossed film. Although paper laminated mats are less durable than conventional HardTop mats (where the print is placed directly onto the underside of a thicker plastic) the print is bright and prices are lower. Please ask for samples.

Recommendations These mats are suitable for users whose budgets for medium or large quantities do not stretch to conventional HardTops or Armadillo mats.

Product See Through mats are HardTop mats with a clear, liftable flap. The clear top material fixed to the base in a strip along an edge allows the rest of the top to lift up. Suitable for applications where customers wish to use their own, frequently changing, inserts.

Photo Mats have a pocket in the foam into which users can insert their own photographs.

Construction The top mark resist material is fixed to the foam base along one long side in a strip of 20mm or more and this is the area which is normally printed. Mats can also be made where the top is fixed on two or three sides. Otherwise the mat is similar to a HardTop mat.

Size and Packaging As for HardTop mats

Product A HardTop mat which incorporates your business card. Ideal for sales representatives to give out to their customers. The mat has a small pocket along one of the short edges. This can be made to fit the size of your business card.

Soft Mats


Key features

Composition The specially formulated ‘cling’ undersurface gives the mat superb lay-flat, non-slip qualities. The heat bonded top surface provides trouble-free mousing.

2mm thick as standard.

The material is available in pure white, black, red, royal blue, dark blue and a very light grey with an attractive marble effect.

Print Screen print only. (For a full colour version, see ColourSoft^TM mats.) Some colours will appear pasty if printed onto dark materials. Because the material is elastic, designs requiring close registrations of colours should be avoided.

Mats are also available without print or in a retail packaging.

Packaging Packed with a die-cut sheet of protective release paper on the base. Usually packed in printed white envelopes which can be personalised for quantities greater than 500. Also available bulk packed.

Colour matching and proofs Colour matching of some colours can be difficult. A proof is always provided for approval but there is a greater variation between proof and production and within a run than with conventional print.

Packaging Usually packed in printed white envelopes with a release paper to protect the ‘cling’ undersurface.

Recommendations With low set up costs, this unusual mat is a great hit for smaller quantities.

Armadillo welded mats

Key Features So named because this mat has a tough, top layer welded to a special, soft ‘cling’ base. All the benefits of the stunning graphics of HardTop mats with the added benefit of the ‘cling’ base and the strong welded edge. The most durable mat we make and a good alternative to the HardTop mat. The Armadillo mat is becoming increasingly popular.

Composition Tough 0.4mm mark resist surface chosen for its good mousing performance and ability to provide strong, bright colours. High frequency welded to a 2mm soft ‘cling’ base.

Print Screen print or offset litho four colour process (or up to four special colours by offset litho). The print is placed directly on to the undersurface of the mark resist material.

Packaging Bulk packed but can be individually packed with a protective release paper on the base and in white envelopes which can be personalised.

Countdown mat

Key Features

This unique combination of mat and 'countdown' clock creates strong anticipation for events.

The Countdown mat is effective in focusing both the attention of your customers and also internal staff on an impending deadline.

The Clock has a large two line LCD. It can be set to countdown to an event in days, hours, minutes and seconds. alternatively it can be set to show the current time in hours, minutes and seconds and also show a countdown in days remaining to an event.

After the event, the clock can be re-set for a further event or just set to show the current date and time. Instructions in English are fixed to the back of the mat.

The clock is normally positioned in the centre, 33mm from the bottom. other positions are possible but incur tooling costs.

Aquamats^TM and coasters

The product A welded mat containing two non-mixing coloured liquids creating an ever changing, stress-relieving display.

Composition Clear top with a surface chosen for its good mousing performance and ability to provide strong, bright colours. Strongly welded along the edge to a ‘cling’ base and enclosing an oil and an aqueous solution.

Each mat is carefully checked for leaks prior to despatch. The non-toxic liquids are all widely used in the food and cosmetic industries.

Print Undersurface screen print either above or below the liquid. Offset litho print can only be applied beneath the liquid.

Liquid colours Colours can only be matched roughly. The strength of the colour at any point depends on the thickness of the liquid and the colour shade will be affected by the colour of the other liquid.

Inserts Mats can be supplied with floating glitter or messages. Proof essential.

Special shapes can be made without difficulty though sharp bends and points should be avoided. Welding tools are more expensive than cutting tools used for other kinds of mat.

Recommendations The beauty of the mat lies in the ever changing pattern created by the liquids. Keep the print to a minimum and keep it simple. Choose a white print to provide a contrast with dark liquids and black to provide a contrast with lighter coloured liquids. For best effect liquids are normally mixed in the ratio of 2:1 and there is always a small air bubble which behaves like a third liquid.

Mats can be prepared with various eye-catching effects which can be difficult to illustrate effectively. Ask for samples.

Lenticular printed mats and coasters

Often confused with holograms, lenticular images give extraordinary three dimensional effects with changing images as the mat is viewed from different positions. The simplest kinds show 2, 3 or 4 images from different angles. More complex designs give a smooth transition from one image to another.

With high origination costs, these mats are most appropriate for larger quantities. Further details are available. It is essential that our specialist repro house is involved at an early stage.

Heat sensitive mats and coasters

Heat sensitive mats and coasters have part of the design printed in a special heat sensitive ink. This thermochromic ink is black at room temperature but becomes transparent revealing a full colour image beneath when warmed by your hand or coffee cup. As the material cools the thermochromic ink reverts to black to hide the image.

The full colour image is usually printed by offset litho. Part of the image is overprinted with the thermochromic ink, leaving some of the design permanently visible.

Honeycomb illusion mats

Create an extraordinary illusion of depth on a curious hexagonal grid. A coin or paperclip placed on the mat appears to float above your advertising image. Designs are best printed four colour process by offset litho.

Metallic lustre mats and coasters

The background design of a HardTop mat can be specially printed to give an unusual and attractive metallic sheen. This is particularly effective for designs printed four colour process.

Aroma mats

HardTop, Softmat^TM and Armadillo mats can be coated with a varnish mixed with billions of tiny capsules which release a scent as the mat is used. Please ask for further details. (Not illustrated).

Mats comprising a layer of foam covered with a textile fabric were the first kinds of mouse mat to become popular and some users prefer the mousing performance of a textile surface.

Print Dye sublimination, in which the textile top is dyed with your design, have superb scuff resistance and durability.
